Framed abstract canvas influenced by mid-century modern art. Helen Frankenthaler, Joan Mitchell, and Richard Diebenkorn are some of my favorite painters. This piece is all about movement and composition. I worked to pull the viewer’s eye from the top right, across the canvas, using bold color shifts and that heavy black shape acts like a black asteroid cutting across the landscape. The palette is earthy but pushed: rust, olive, charcoal, pale green, and flashes of light. Just shape, color, and movement. I reacted to and corrected until the whole thing felt like it could hold.
The original oil painting is property of The Gregory Allicar Museum of Art. If you would like a different size, want this printed onto a different surfacek: Please contact me. Thank you! This framed matte canvas brings a quiet, contemplative energy into any room. Deep, earthy reds and olive greens balance with a soft vertical wash of light, suggesting a doorway or distant river cutting through shadow. The painted textures feel tactile and immediate — like a memory translated into color. Hung above a reading nook or at the end of a hallway, the piece slows the pace of the room and invites lingering. It connects with those who collect abstract, mid-century-inspired works and anyone building a layered, thoughtful interior for evenings of low light and conversation.
